This Content Archival Policy (CAP) outlines the principles and procedures for archiving content on ChemIndia – Online Chemicals Inventory Portal of India by Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India (“the Portal”) in compliance with extant legal requirements and to ensure the preservation of historical information and public access to relevant documents and data.
The Portal is committed to maintaining a well-organized and accessible archive of web content to support transparency, accountability, and public access to government information. This policy governs the archiving of content on our Portal.
Department of Chemicals & Petro-chemicals (DCPC) is responsible for identifying content that requires archival, maintaining accurate records of such content, and ensuring its timely archival in compliance with this policy and are responsible for implementing archival procedures, including regular backups, and managing the technical aspects of archiving content.
• The Portal shall undergo regular backups, with frequency determined by technical considerations and the importance of the content. Backups shall include all web pages, documents, multimedia, and databases.
• Content deemed historically significant, including policies, reports, publications, and important announcements, shall be archived separately and prominently on the Portal. Archived content shall remain accessible to the public.
• Content owners shall periodically review content for accuracy and relevance. Outdated or irrelevant content shall be removed or archived based on predefined criteria
• This Portal complies with all legal requirements related to data retention and archiving, including but not limited to the Information Technology Act, 2000, the Right to Information Act, 2005, and Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and any other laws connected or being incidental thereto
• Archived content shall be accessible to the public through clearly labelled links or references
on the Portal. Users shall be able to access historical information easily upon approval of
DCPC.
• DCPC shall ensure that archived content is accessible to individuals with disabilities, in
accordance with applicable accessibility standards.
This Content Archival Policy shall be reviewed periodically to ensure its effectiveness and relevance. Any necessary updates or revisions shall be made in consultation with relevant stakeholders..
Failure to comply with this policy may result in corrective actions, including but not limited to content removal.
